They engage in heated arguments with any person who parks his vehicle in their parking area, but it must be noted that there is no such legal parking area provided to them. Towards the south of Patong lie the Kata and Karon beach, which has wonderful scenic appeal. These beaches are devoid of dense populations, but have lengthy stretches of the sand surrounded by transparent waters.

If you are looking for isolation, with no human soul to disturb your silence then the most suitable venue is the Mai Khao beach. This beach located remotely from the central islands is a heavenly paradise with its charming site scenes, romanticism of distance and remoteness. The lack of basic amenities and commodities make it a most popular picnic spot, which may be largely enjoyable in the afternoon.

Then there is the Nai Yang beach, further south of Mai Khao, which is just the modified form of the Mai Khao beach with more amenities. The additional facilities of trade and scuba diving make this place a hot favorite for the leisurely tourists.

The Nai Harn beach also comprise much into the array of Phuket beaches, which has more scenic appeal than the Nai Yang with the natives and travel experts visiting every weekends.

The Laem Sing beach adds further to the diversity of Phuket beaches with vast stretches of sand capable of both famous sound wave parties and sun baths.

Surin is one of the most naturally beautiful beaches in Phuket. It is also called “Millionaires Row” due to the locality of two most luxurious resorts famous for visits and stays of celebrities. These include Chedi, Twinpalms, and Amanpuri. This is the beach of the Andaman Sea where houses built on top of the hills are worth more than $1 million.

It is a coastal visit but not a very busy resort town, though very popular among tourists in Phuket. Thais and foreigners both like the picturesque beach with turquoise water and white sands. The entire area of Surin beach is filled with wine bars and high end restaurants.

In low season, high tides and rough surf makes this uncluttered beach difficult for swimming but in calm months, the waters of Surin are ideal for kayaking and snorkeling. Here also can be found the second oldest golf course in Thailand which is now developed into a public park.

The bustling nightlife of Surin has many modes. Beach and inland areas are buzzed with party life from November to February. In other months, most of the parties and fun are conducted in restaurants and bars. Chedi, located at Soi Haad Surin 8, is a 4 way intersection which is the heart of the activities.

‘Divers’ is a famous beach bar where chat and beer nights are celebrated. It is located a few hundred metres south down the beach from Surin Beach’s car park. Many other good places are situated on back side of Soi Haad Surin 8.

The open sided bar of Surin bay is famous for English grub and a host of regulars is served there. Carmen is located further up which is a nice Thai-Italian restaurant. Lovely music is played here and at nights, visitors have the choice of playing their own music on restaurant’s iPod.

Envision Wine Bar is another upmarket option. It is owned and run by the largest wine importers of Thailand. It’s an ideal spot for drinking. Cherng Talay is also situated few hundred meters next to Surin Bay Inn. The La Plaze shopping mall is also located on the right.

Silk, a chic and smooth eatery occupies the top floor of this building. The DJ and theme evenings are famous here. Dining out and hanging out here is common and interesting.

There are many fresh seafood and Thai food restaurants on Surin beach for informal and alfresco dining. Mr. Crab is the most famous of all restaurants here. Most of these restaurants are seasonal. But all year long restaurants can be found on the north of Haad Surin Soi 8. They offer not only fine dining but also the loveliest views in Phuket.

Rawai is considered as the first tourist beach on the island of Phuket. Today, Rawai serves a launching area for day boat excursions that go out to the surrounding islands of Phuket. Rawai has a lot of five-star resorts, beachfront bars and great restaurants. If Nai Harn beach tickled your fancy, check this one out for sure.

There are some long-tail boats which are available for hire and for touring along its shores. You can go on a trip to Koh Lone, Coral Island or to Racha Island. You can also go on a fishing or a snorkeling trip. Many fishermen even use it as a mooring point.

Some of the pros of Rawai include: it serves as a great place where you can interact with locals; a good selection of restaurants; pleasant and laid-back nightlife; good fishing sports; facilities for touring the islands. Some of the cons, on the other hand, include: the beach can be dangerous and oily; and that it is not a swimming beach.

If you like Karon beach, you’ll love this one. Located on the southern area of Phuket, Nai Harn is a small and quiet spot which could well be the most beautiful of the locations on the island. There are only a couple of hotels here that includes the Le Royal Phuket Yacht Club, as it transforms into a marina in the peak season.

Nai Harn has jungle-covered mountains on both sides and has a large freshwater inland lagoon. The beach here is never crowded, even during the busier months. It is best to go swimming here during the months of November through April. On the southern portion, there is a lagoon which flows to the sea, creating a wonderful stream where children can play in.

There are several good locations in Nai Harn. On the northern portion, you can see Nui Beach, which is small and secluded and could be difficult to go to. There is also Ya Nui, which is a sandy cove popular among divers and snorkelers. Also a great location to go snorkeling, Ao sane is a tiny beach that can be accessed through taking the dirt road which starts at the car park of the Le Royal Meridien.

Karon Beach offers a very long shoreline of five kilometers close to Kata Noi beach. It has fine white sand which literally squeaks as you walk on it. If you are looking for a spot where you can be all by yourself, you can try walking to the northern end which is more deserted.

You can also see the giant sea turtles as they occasionally swim by at night. During the northeast monsoon season which falls on the months of November through April, there are relatively fewer waves and the water is crystal clear.

Karon has three focal areas. The first would be the Karon Plaza area which is located on the southern area. It has a several budget guesthouses, bars and restaurants and bars. You could explore the side sois, especially the one which leads to an art community where Thai painters have built a complex of pubs, huts and art galleries. The second would be the grounds of the Hilton Phuket Arcadia and the Thavorn Palm Beach Resort which are located in the central region of Karon. The third one would be the Aroona Plaza which features a number of handicraft shops, great restaurants, bars and cafes, as well as hotel which has Sino-Portuguese architecture.

The bay of Kata Noi is just a couple of minutes’ drive from Kata beach. Many tourists choose to go here for the breathtaking scenery. It has a 700-meter long beach with soft sand and crystal clear water with a backdrop of the lush green jungle.

Kata Noi offers a place where you can rest and relax and not be bothered with the noise of a crowd of people. You can take a refreshing walk on the soft sands or go for a swim or do a bit of snorkeling as you get away from it all.

Some surfers also go here for the waves during the monsoon season which falls on the month of May through October.

Some of the great things about the Kata Noi beach are: nearby shops and restaurants; shallow and clear waters; and its beautiful sand. Some of the cons of this beach would include: limited parking during the peak season; and swimming conditions are not that great during the off-peak season.

Just a couple of minutes away from Karon beach and not far from Patong beach, you will find the spectacular bay of Kata. It attracts a lot of tourists with its white sand as well as its clear, blue waters. It is also the favorite destination of families. It offers a beautiful palm-lined one mile beach, lively but not rowdy nightlife, great restaurants and a wide range of accommodation options, which are all near the beach.

Kata has two focal areas. The first would be Kata Center, located at the north portion and the second would be Kata south, home to several great beach resorts.

From the month of November to April, the sea is calm, warm and turquoise in color; but during the months of May through October, you can expect slightly rougher swimming conditions which could be best for surfing.

Along the southern area of the beach, there are many restaurants that serve fresh seafood and other delicious Thai and European dishes. There are also beach vendors that sell sandwiches, pizzas and other snacks.

Kata beach is also a great place where you can do various water sports and activities such as jet-skiing, kayaking and parasailing. Wakeboarding and waterskiing is also popular, along with snorkeling, surfing and banana boat rides.
